Communities Connect kicks off its educational program series by hosting a two-day workshop on UN peacemaking and peacekeeping at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The workshop is set to take place from August 6 – 7, 2019 and its target audience will be highschool and university students from the US and abroad who are interested in careers in peacemaking, diplomacy and conflict resolution. This one of a kind workshop is led and organized by Dr. Borislava Manojlovic, the Executive Director of Communities Connect and Professor of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and her team. It will feature UN officials from the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations as well as scholars and experts in peace and conflict studies. Participants will have the rare opportunity to experience an interactive training inside the headquarters on the inner workings of the UN and its relevance for peace globally. They will also have the unique opportunity to participate in discussions, simulations, and interactive exercises with the people who have spent time in the field both keeping peace as well as negotiating peace agreements at all societal levels. Communities Connect is proud to host this program in line with its mission and practice aimed at bringing the world’s communities closer together with the belief that peace is possible only if we take responsibility to act for peace.
