Saving The Amazon: Environmental Justice and Diplomacy, Brazil

May 12–20, 2016

Saving the Amazon program brings together all people of good will from the US and Latin America to learn about environmental justice and managing contention among different stakeholders operating in Mata Atlanica (Atlantic rainforest of Brazil). Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with regards to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, standards and policies. Fair treatment means no group of people should bear a disproportionate share of the negative environmental consequences resulting from industrial, governmental and commercial operations or policies.
